Call for Composers, Choreographers, and Dancers to Take Part in a Unique Professional Development Opportunity with The Cohan Collective

CALL FOR COMPOSERS, CHOREOGRAPHERS AND DANCERS TO TAKE PART IN A UNIQUE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE

The Cohan Collective is looking for choreographers, composers and dancers to take part in The Cohan Collective: Bournemouth 2018, a two-week (29TH JULY – 10TH AUGUST) intensive professional development residency directed by Robert Cohan and Eleanor Alberga with mentorship by Kim Brandstrup and Kenneth Hesketh, in partnership with Pavilion Dance South West and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.

Who is it for?

The Cohan Collective is aimed at artists who want to develop their creative skills and gain valuable insight into the process of collaboration guided by acclaimed artists and mentors. The directors are looking for composers and choreographers who are willing to go beyond what they know, try new ways of approaching their work, are keen to be challenged and have a desire to develop their artistry. In addition, The Cohan Collective: Bournemouth 2018 is looking for professional dancers who are able to work with choreographers as they are challenged with daily tasks. Improvisational skills and the ability to work quickly are essential.

CALL OUT FOR CHOREGRAPHERS: The Cohan Collective is looking for different styles of choreographers, although the residency cannot support site specific work. You must have some professional experience (students are not eligible to apply), an interest in working with a composer and the ability to collaborate with other artists.

How to Apply: Please submit a letter of interest (maximum one side A4), your CV and links to examples of your work on video (vimeo, youtube or wetransfer are all fine). If short-listed you will be invited to meet with the directors for an interview during the week of 23rd April 2018.

CALL OUT FOR COMPOSERS:The Cohan Collective is looking for composers of all genres of music. You are required to have some professional experience (students are not eligible to apply), an interest in working in dance and the ability to collaborate with other artists.

How to Apply: Please submit a letter of interest (maximum one side A4), your CV and links to examples of your work. If short-listed you will be invited to meet with the directors for an interview during the week of 23rd April 2018.

CALL OUT FOR DANCERS: The Cohan Collective is looking for professional dancers who are interested in working creatively with choreographers and composers. You will have to be able to work under pressure, take information and direction quickly and be skilled at improvisation. You will be required to attend all morning classes that will be in Cohan and ballet techniques. We are looking for experienced dancers only and we cannot accept submissions from students.

Benefits: The Cohan Collective will pay/provide the following for composers:

  • An honorarium to help with travel expenses
  • Per diem for the duration of the residency
  • Accommodation
  • Highly skilled artists (dancers and musicians) who will be paid a fee to participate in the residency and assist you in undertaking the work
  • Dancers will receive a fee for the residency of £450 per week plus travel expenses and per diem, accommodation will be provided.
