Deadline 24th March 2016 – Surprised body project #London
The Surprised body project has been developing, as an ongoing creative process, creating several new versions of the work while touring in different countries, sometimes also involving guest dancers and new composers to participate in the performances.
Surprised body project, has never been the same twice, as the structured improvisations always modified the work and local needs and possibilities dictated the shape and context of the actual event. It develops new ways of sharing knowledge about dance, while producing specific discourses in the performing arts field.
Following its presentation in 23 countries across the world, Greenwich Dance will present the UK premiere Surprised body project #London at The Borough Hall on 22 June 2016 as part of Greenwich Dances 2016. Francesco Scavetta and Greenwich Dance are now looking for 2 UK based dancers to perform in this new version.
Dancers should have a solid background and professional experience in contemporary dance performance and improvisation. Dancers will need to be available on all of the following dates:
AUDITION:
Friday 15 and Saturday 16 April 2016, London, UK

REHEARSALS:
Monday 16 – Sunday 29 May 2016, Vitlycke, Sweden
Monday 13 – Friday 17 June 2016, London, UK
Sunday 19 – Monday 20 June 2016, London, UK

PERFORMANCES:
Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 June 2016, London, UK

This is a paid project on a freelance basis.
Fee: £1800 (based on £450 per week) plus travel and accommodation.

Successful applicants will be invited by email by 30 March to a two-stage audition. If you have not heard from us by 30 March you should assume that you have not been selected to audition on this occasion.

The audition will take place in London on 15 April, with a selection of dancers invited back for a final audition stage on 16 April. Time and location will be confirmed in the email to successful applicants.

Surprised body project #London will be premiered on 21 and 22 June 2016 at The Borough Hall as part of Greenwich Dances 2016.
