Male and female dancers wanted for new creation ‘CLOSER’
James Cousins Company are looking for passionate and versatile performers for an exciting new venture. In a first for the company we will take our work off the proscenium stage in a new highly theatrical production based on the award winning play ‘Closer’ by Patrick Marber.
We are looking for experienced, highly creative dance artists with excellent improvisation and contact skills, who are excited to respond to a range of creative tasks and work collaboratively with James and the other cast members, to create a unique new theatrical experience that will get audiences talking.
Cast members will be taking on the play’s four leading characters and so must have exceptional performance and characterisation skills and be able to bring the required maturity and emotional depth to these challenging and demanding roles.
As a company member you will become a key ambassador for our work. We are looking for hard working and committed individuals who want to invest in this exciting next stage. Prior knowledge of the company’s work and knowledge of the play is preferable. Fluency in English language is essential due to the exploration of text within the work.
The audition will take place on Thursday 11th August 10.30 – 17.30. There will be a call back on Friday 12th August from 10.30 for selected candidates.
The contract will be in several blocks with two periods of creation in the UK – one in January and February 2017 and another from June 2017 onwards. This is funding dependent.
Please note that participation in the audition is by invitation only
Applications must include:
- a covering letter stating why you feel you are suitable for these roles with the company and your motivation for applying,
- an outline of your availability,
- CV (max 2 page with most recent experience at the top)
- A clear video link to you dancing is favourable but not essential (Vimeo/YouTube or similar). Please do NOT include video files in your application – these will not be viewed.
