Strong Female Contemporary Dancers Required to Join Gary Clarke Company for his New Work ‘Wasteland’

Strong contemporary dancers wanted for exciting creation with Gary Clarke!

Acclaimed choreographer Gary Clarke requires 2 female dancers to join Gary Clarke Company for the creation and preview of his new mid-scale 2018 dance theatre production Wasteland.

Wasteland is the eagerly anticipated sequel to the multi-award winning production COAL and takes a close look at what happened to the children of the coal fields in their search for purpose and existence in the illegal rave culture of the 1990’s. This thrilling new production will bring together a cast of professional dancers, a live community choir, a live brass musician and a strong light, design, sound and production team.

Creation and Preview 

The creation of Wasteland will take place at various venues in Yorkshire. The preview of Wasteland will take place at CAST Theatre in Doncaster.

A living allowance for accommodation will be provided for non Yorkshire based artists.

Dates:
Creation Block 1 9th to 27th April (3 weeks)
Creation Block 2 30th May to 29th June (4 weeks) (not needed 12th and 13th June)
Weekends -16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th June (4 days)
Preview29th June

Applicants should state in their cover letter if there are any issues with any of the dates or details listed as the company can be flexible depending on individual circumstances.

Fee: £500 per week x 7 weeks engagement (£3500) PLUS holiday pay, travel, accommodation allowance and per diems covered.  Gary Clarke contracts performers using ITC / Equity Agreements and has a House Agreement with Equity.

Performer Requirements:

Some experience, socially or professionally in rave / club dance, a very strong contemporary dance technique, strong physical theatre skills, a high level of confidence, a good fitness level, experience in highly physical work, good contact and partnering skills, good improvisation and creative skills, good musicality, confidence in text work, the ability to connect with very emotionally driven work, a willingness and openness to work with the community / non-dancers, a good working attitude, a good sense of humour, the ability to collaborate and work well as a team, the ability to work well under pressure, confidence and experience in delivering education and outreach work, a full CRB check.
