About the project:
LOST BODIES – URBAN ENCOUNTERS is an immersive performance exhibition in public space and documented photo exhibition. The exhibition consists of 8 solo performances taking place in diverse outdoor cultural and touristic locations throughout the city of Heidelberg. The audience will receive a map of the locations and a performance timetable and can select their own parkour – inviting them to physically move themselves through the city – Making movement the common thread between the performers and audience.
The solos will be based on the already developed choreographic improvisational score BODY LANGUAGE developed by the choreographer Edan Gorlicki and the performer Mayke van Kruchten. Body Language focuses on the body in transformation. The body is seen as a developing algorithm that takes the place of the initiator. The performer demonstrates this practice by overloading cognitive awareness, leaving the body to find its own path. The interest is to give the body a platform and see how it can take charge, leaving the performer to listen to how it expresses itself. The body behaves in different ways based on its surroundings. The solos are designed to be presented in diverse locations and situations. The goal is to discover the diverse behavioural patterns that govern the body and explore the journey that it can take us on.
