Alexander Vantournhout is Looking for Female Dancers
Alexander Vantournhout studied Circus at Ecole Supérieure des Arts du Cirque in Brussels. Afterwards he continued his education as a dancer at P.A.R.T.S. The combination of both studies, the former focusing on artistic reflection, the latter focusing on physical excellence, makes that his work serves as a link between circus and dance. Two constants within his artistic pursuits are a search for creative and kinetic potential in physicality and an investigation into many aspects of the relationship between performer and object.

Creation:
The new creation, Inschrift (premiere October 2021) is an ensemble piece with 5 to 6 female dancers on the stage. Inschrift is inspired by how people on the run (refugees) cross the border between Mexico and United States. They minimize their traces in the sand by using shoes with carpet sewn into the sole or by erasing their footprints with branches, sweepers. The movement research will be inspired on strategies how humans and animals locomote, and how to reduce their traces.
Creation period (to be confirmed): (30/11/2020 → 11/12/2020, 18/01/2021 → 30/01/2021, 15/02/2021 → 18/02/2021, 22/03/2021 → 02/04/2021, 19/04/2021 → 30/04/2021, 17/05/2021 → 28/05/2021 + periods in September/October)
Premiere: October 2021 followed by an intensive tour in Belgium and abroad during season 2021-2022 and afterwards on the repertory until Summer 2023.
