American Contemporary Ballet is Currently Hiring Dancers for 2017/2018
American Contemporary Ballet is currently hiring dancers for the 2017-18 season. Contracts are available for the full season September 2017–August 2018 (lay off approx Feb 15–May 1).
ACB is seeking female and male classical ballet dancers, $250 to $550 per week plus physical therapy and pointe shoes. Apprentice contracts are also available.
ACB has two core values: to make great work, and to make a great place to work. We strive to create a company culture in which the daily process is as rewarding as the result. We are interested in developing long-term relationships with dancers and helping them achieve their fullest potential.
Stylistic and technical requirements: The “contemporary” in our name denotes the fact that we perform a large number of new ballets; but those works are based on the classical tradition, so we seek dancers with exemplary classical skills. Balanchine training provides an excellent background for the work we do.
How to Apply:
If you would like to request a company class audition, please submit the following three items to [email protected]
1. Video: Center classwork (classical, women on pointe), and/or Variation(s) by Petipa or Balanchine
Important! Submissions will be considered only if they follow these guidelines exactly. Please make sure that your submission includes the full range of classical movement—allegro, pirouettes, extensions, etc. If your video is shot onstage from a distance, it is helpful if it is accompanied by some in-studio footage.
2. Resume/CV
3. Headshot and dance photos
IMPORTANT NOTE:
While we are aware that some dancers prefer a company class audition, we strongly prefer to see dancers in open calls.
If we are unable to schedule a company class audition for you, please do not be discouraged from attending an open call. Due to the number of submissions received, we generally respond only to dancers whose requests are granted. Please make sure that your materials are up to date and reflect your current state of fitness.
