AXIS Dance Company and Guest Artistic Director Marc Brew are seeking male and female dancers with and without physical disabilities for 40-week contracts beginning in August 2016 and/or January 2017.
AXIS Dance Company exists to change the face of dance and disability. We are looking for dancers and movers that are highly motivated, have strong performance, teaching and communications skills, and are committed to participating fully in our extensive program of ambassadorial work worldwide. Collaboration and teamwork are at the heart of the creation and performance of our repertory and delivery of our extensive dance education and outreach program for people of all ages with and without disabilities.
Requirements: We welcome applicants with a background in dance or a strong aptitude for dance as an art form. Please have an impressive natural performance style and/or at least 2 years of professional dance experience with training in contemporary dance, improvisation or other creative skills. You will need to be very motivated, able to work collaboratively as part of a team and show that you are able to represent the company well, whenever you are on tour, performing and teaching. Selected auditionees should plan to attend AXIS Summer Intensive from August 1-10, 2016 in Oakland, CA.
