Boston Dance Theater is Looking for Dancers
BDT has immediate openings for multiple positions within the company. BDT supports artists through four different contracted positions that run 39 weeks out of the year; Core Member Sr, Core Member Jr, Apprentice, Trainee Program. Core member positions are salaried (informed by the MIT Living Wage Calculator for Boston Metropolitan Area) and come with health, vision, and dental benefit package options. All dancers rehearse Monday-Friday for approximately 20 hours per week. Responsibilities include interpreting company repertoire, participating in company-wide professional development (assets for artists, anti-racism, and conflict resolution) training, facilitating company class, and serving as BDT ambassadors within the broader dance community during a time when Boston Dance Theater’s at-home activity is increasing and the company is preparing for national touring.
BDT’s 2023 repertory includes work by Karole Armitage, Rena Butler, Rosie Herrera, Alessandro Sousa Pereira and Jessie Jeanne Stinnett, and will join existing works by Marco Goecke, Micaela Taylor, Shannon Gillen, Sidra Bell, Yin Yue, and Itzik Galili. Dancers should familiarize themselves with the work of these choreographers in advance of the audition.
Interested dancers are encouraged to apply for BDT’s Summer Immersion Project (Aug 28 – Sep 1) to gain more experience with the company’s artistic process prior to the audition.
