Call out for an Experienced Male Dancer for the Production and Premiere of ‘The Box’ by Julia James-Griffiths / JJG Dance

Julia James-Griffiths / JJG Dance is seeking an experienced male dancer for the final production and premiere of The Box- a contemporary dance theatre piece that explores the impact depression can have on an individual, and how our society responds to it.The final production and premiere of the work run during May of this year and the opening tour of the work are due to begin in October of this year.

Dancers need to have the following qualities:

– Strong partner work and improvisational skills
– Quick at learning material and good attention to detail
– Strong contemporary dance technique
– Good theatrical skills/use of voice and expression
– Team player
– A genuine interest in the subject matter of mental health/depression is essential, and an understanding and/or experience is desirable.This project also involves delivering movement workshops for those with experience of mental health issues; therefore experience of working with vulnerable groups in a public workshop setting is desirable.Ideally, applicants will be based in Scotland, but those out-with will also be considered.

Availability:
The dancer must be available for the following periods:
Week beginning 7th May
Week beginning 14th May
Week beginning 21st May
As well as for the month of October.
Rate of pay: ITC / Equity minimum

Where: Edinburgh, Scotland

When: Friday 6th April (10 – 5 pm)
