CIAO International Dance Competition
The CIAO* International Dance Competition invites dancers of all categories—classical ballet, ethnic dance, contemporary dance, jazz, hip-hop, and sports dance, (solo, duet, trio, suite – around four people, and ensemble – six people or more),to join us at the biggest competition in Europe, which takes place in three cities and three countries.
The organizers of the competition are Shanghai Normal University, Shanghai Institute of Visual Arts, Jingdezhen Vocational University, Ningbo Foreign Affairs School, and the Belgrade Dance Institute from Serbia.
Where & When:
The competition will be held in Belgrade (Serbia) at the Madlenianum Opera and Theatre first round on September 8th; in Podgorica (Montenegro) at the Montenegro Music Center second round on September 10th; and in Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) at the Sarajevo Youth Theater final, awards ceremony, and special dance show on September 12th.
Entrants in the competition should be professional dance students and young dance enthusiasts from China and Central Europe, especially from higher education institutions of China and Balkan countries (including participation in secondary schools in the aforementioned countries). The age range for entrants should be in the following category: Kids 7- 9 Ages, Children 10 -12 Ages, Junior13-15Ages,Youth 16- 18 Ages, Adult 19 and more Ages, Senior 30+.
Registration: All entrants must first fill out the Registration Form provided by the Competition Committee for the competition, select one dance type from ballet, ethnic dance, contemporary dance, and sports dance, and choose one group setting from solo, duet, trio, suite (around four people), and ensemble (six people or more).
Entrants should submit their chosen dance name and performance video, along with the registration form, to the designated email address of the Competition Committee: [email protected] (cc) [email protected], for which, the title shall be: name + dance type + dance category + dance name.
The registration deadline: 15th August 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted.
*CIAO, which means “Hello” in Serbian and Italian and shares the pronunciation of the Chinese character “桥”(bridge), is an international dance competition that celebrates bonding and exchanges. It’s the first competition to be jointly organized by official Chinese and European cultural organizations and music entities and convened in China and Europe with a mission to bring professional and amateur young dancers in China and Europe together so that they can exchange art and establish ties with each other.
