Compagnie Nacera Belaza is Looking for Dancers for a Co-production

Compagnie Nacera Belaza is looking for Irish/Irish-based dancers for a co-production between Compagnie Nacera Belaza, Corp_Real Galway Dance Days and John Scott’s Irish Modern Dance Theatre taking place in Ireland Winter 2017 and continuing in Europe in 2018.

When: The audition takes place on Monday 17th July 10am – 2pm, please be available for a call back for the remainder of the week (Tuesday July 18th– Friday July 21st).

Nacera Belaza’s note on background / process of the new creation: The work will seed from a duo Le Cercle which was part of the triptych Le Trait presented at the Festival d’Avignon in 2012. Le Cercle fits into a research which started a few years ago in Algeria, focusing on the dialogue between the rituals, the sacred dances and my own writing. The numerous ritual dances I could observe strengthened my idea that, at all times, art has made ancestral rituals communicate with a certain premonition of the future. That is why I wish to find a “sacred memory in the body” through this research.
