Cross Move Lab Auditions for 2019 New Project
Cross Move Lab is a New York City based contemporary dance company under the artistic direction of Guanglei Hui. We are currently seeking dancers for a new project, a 45-minute piece, in our 2019 season. For this project, contemporary dancers with extensive ballet training and a balletic movement quality are encouraged to apply. We are especially looking for mature dancers with high performance quality.
To accommodate more prospective dancers, we will hold two auditions. Attendance at both auditions is welcome, but not required to be considered.
In order for us to get an idea of your body’s natural movement quality, dancers are asked to prepare a 1-minute solo to present at the audition. If you are unable to prepare a solo beforehand, you are welcome to improvise during this time.
Project Dates:
Studio Showcase – at the end of May 2019
Premiere Performance – mid-September 2019 – Queens, NY
Rehearsals are held in Queens and will run from February-May, resuming at the end of August until the premiere in September. There will be 2-3 rehearsals each week, typically on Friday and Sunday afternoons. Depending on the selected dancers’ availability, the times/dates of rehearsal may change. In total, there will be approximately 60-70 hours of rehearsal for the new 45-minute project.
