DeNada Dance Theatre Seeks UK Dancers for Creation and Tour of ‘The Bull and the Moon’
DeNada Dance Theatre (chor. Carlos Pons Guerra) seeks UK-based dancers of any gender denomination, with excellent contemporary dance technique, theatricality and unique presence for the creation and tour of The Bull and the Moon, a new outdoor family-friendly production about gender identity.
Inspired by Spanish popular song El Torito y la Luna, this narrative production will tell the story of a little bull who doesn’t want to join the bull fight or lead a herd of cows, but, inspired by the dancing moon, dreams of becoming a female flamenco dancer. Aimed at young audiences from 3+, the production will also offer support, information and representation for families with members who identify as trans or non binary.
We are looking for dynamic, inventive and creative performers, with strong contemporary dance technique, narrative skills and musicality. Experience in flamenco, tap, South Asian dance forms or other body percussive dance forms, or quick ability to pick up percussive footwork will be a plus, as will experience in drag. Basic text skills are also welcome.
The production will be co-choreographed by Carlos Pons Guerra and flamenco artist Ana García, with designs by Ryan Laight.
