Presentation of the Dance Degree Program
The dance degree program provides students with the mastery and knowledge required for professionalization. It prepares them for admission to institutions such as the National Conservatories of Higher Education, Higher Education Centers, European Higher Schools, and Junior Ballets.
This program leads to the Diplôme d’Études Chorégraphiques (DEC), a nationally recognized diploma, awarded at the end of a specialized cycle lasting between 2 and 4 years.
This course of study includes:
Practical disciplines: main technique, complementary technique, improvisation and composition workshop, introduction to excerpts from repertoire,
Theoretical disciplines: music training for dancers, choreographic culture, anatomy and functional analysis of the body in dance movement.
Teaching is delivered weekly in a modular format.
All courses (UVs) must be validated in order to obtain the DEC.
This diploma grants equivalence with the EAT – Épreuve d’Aptitude Technique (Technical Proficiency Exam), which enables access to the State Diploma program for dance teachers.
At the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional Pau Béarn Pyrénées, this new program trains students for careers as professional dancers, in partnership with the Junior Ballet Nouvelle-Aquitaine Elephant in the Black Box, under the artistic direction of Jean-Philippe Dury.
Through immersion three afternoons a week, students work with guest choreographers, take part in new choreographic creations, and perform restagings of repertoire pieces.
The choreographic unit LA CHAPELLE, a professional integration initiative jointly created by the two institutions, allows students to participate in the ALORS ON DANSE season, as well as in several innovative projects with the Dance Department’s teaching team at the Conservatoire of Pau.
