Fertile Ground is Recruiting Four Emerging Professional Dancers for its 2018/19 Season.
Fertile Ground is recruiting four emerging professional dancers for its 2018/19 season. Artistic co-directors Malgorzata Dzierzon and Renaud Wiser are looking for dance artists in the early stages of their careers and with strong connections to the North East of England (native to, trained or have worked in the NE region).
Fertile Ground (FG) is the North East’s only early career repertory dance company. Founded in 2013 by Dora Frankel, the company’s primary focus is to retain talent in the NE by offering young professionals a platform to perform and grow. In 2018, the company recruited Malgorzata Dzierzon and Renaud Wiser as new Artistic Directors. Former dancers with Rambert, both are members of the pioneering group New Movement Collective and established choreographers.
Applicants for the dancers positions should have a strong contemporary dance technique, be open to working within a range of creative choreographic approaches and have interest in working with young people.
Successful candidates will work with FG during two weeks of research and development in the w/c October 29th and w/c December 10th 2018. The creation and tour of the Company’s new programme is planned from February to October 2019 (dates to be confirmed).
The two days audition workshop will include contemporary and ballet technique classes and creative sessions with artists invited to work with Fertile Ground during the 2018/19 season.
We will be recruiting for the Company dancers (paid positions) as well as for a pilot professional development programme. The 360 programme will run parallel to our artistic activity and is aimed at emerging artists aged 18-25 with the goal of enhancing their employment prospects through participation in rehearsals and classes in practical subjects: managing self- employment, audition prep and improving technique.
The audition is by invitation. Invited dancers will be expected to attend both full days of the audition.
When: Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th of October.
Where: The audition will take place at Dance City in Newcastle
How to Apply: Please email your C.V., a video link of a maximum 5 minute length (this can be of performances, studio improvisation or showreel) with a cover letter stating your connection to the North East of England and availability for the above R&D and creation/touring dates to: [email protected]
Deadline for Applications: The deadline for sending your information is Friday the 5th of October.
