Friction Dance Theatre is Seeking 4 Contemporary/Physical Theatre Dancers to join the company for the creation of a new production to be performed at this year’s Emerge Festival 2016!
Emerge Festival is a platform by C-12 Dance Theatre which offers 10 choreographers a chance to present a 15-minute work over the course of 5 nights. With mentoring along the way, the idea of the festival is to help choreographers take their work further afield, to create full length productions, source funding and sponsors, and get future performance opportunities for the company.
The concept is to create a dark physical theatre work drawing inspiration from an already chosen location. For Emerge Festival the work we create will be presented for stage, however the future full production early 2017 will be performed in the site.
Audition will be held on the 11th September in Studio 4 of the Laban Building, Creekside, London SE8 3DZ.
Registration and warming up will be at 9:30am, and audition starts at 10am. Please be prepared to stay till 2:30pm the latest.
Rehearsals will be every Sunday from 18th September through till tech day, most of the rehearsals will be held at trinity Laban, but some will be at the site which is located in Whitechapel.
Important Dates which you MUST be available for:
Sun 6th November (ALL DAY: Tech)
Tue 8th November (ALL DAY: Dress run and evening performance)
Wed 9th, Thurs 10th, Fri 11th November (Evening performances)
Sat 12th November (ALL DAY: Promotional show with videographers and photographers during the day, Evening performance, AFTER PARTY!)
Unfortunately, at present this is a voluntary position, however it’s a great opportunity to experience how a piece can develop through full production from the first show to the last, a process which allows for a greater understanding of what it is your dancing and how you are dancing it. On the Tuesday we will be honored by various VIP’s, so it’s an opportunity to perform in front of industry professionals and get yourself seen! You will also get photos and a film of the work in performance which can be used for your portfolios and show reels.
And of course if all goes well, embark on the journey with us to creating this full length production, get future performance opportunities, and hopefully get paid to dance! The last production we’ve created had a very successful run of paid performances, and we’re hoping to secure the same opportunities this time round.
