GECKO are Seeking Performers for an Initial 2-Week R&D with Amit Lahav

Gecko is the UK’s leading devised physical theatre company creating exciting and innovative new performance from our base in Ipswich that thrills audiences all around the world. Since the company’s inception in 2001, we have created 8 shows and toured to 24 countries to audiences of over 200,000.

Gecko creates world-class theatre. It is visual, visceral and ambitious. We inspire, move and entertain our audiences. With an expanding ensemble of international performers and makers, Gecko creates work through collaboration, experimentation and play. Our work is global. We tour nationally and internationally and continue to develop strong partnerships around the world. Working across all age groups, nationalities and forms, Gecko celebrates diversity.

We are looking to expand our ensemble company and are seeking performers for an initial 2-week development process with Amit Lahav, Artistic Director of Gecko.

These weeks would take place between mid March and end April 2020 so when you apply please can you share your availability for:

  • w/c 16, 23 and 30 March

  • w/c 20 and 27 April

  • w/c 4, 11, 18, 25 May

We are interested in applicants from all age brackets who have at least 5 years professional experience in physical performance.

Auditions will be held on Tuesday 28th, Thursday 30th and Friday 31st January in Ipswich. Each session will be a 3hr physical theatre workshop with Amit Lahav from 1.30pm – 4.30pm. Recalls will be held on Tuesday 4th and Wednesday 5th February at 1.30pm – 4.30pm.

  • CV, a photo, and a video example of performance including movement

  • Information on any languages spoken or any musical instruments/vocals

  • In order of preference, your availability for all of the above audition/recall dates

  • Your availability for the development week possible dates

Deadline for Applications: by midday on Wednesday 22nd January 2020

We anticipate a high volume of applications and as such, on this occasion we will only be able to contact successful applicants. If you have not heard back from us by Tuesday 28th January, we are afraid we will not be pursuing your application at this time.
