Intake Dance Trainees/ Interns (M/F/X) / Amsterdam, The Netherlands
The selection/ audition will have an online modality.
The dramaturge will invite the selected candidates to hold an online intake in the weekend 19-20 October. The intern-candidate is required to be at a location with good internet connection.
The intake may take 30 minutes maximun.
Trainees with Sur Mundo Ensemble
This traineeship focuses primarily on dancers in education in The Netherlands, Belgium and it extends to international applicants. The dance leader offers a Traineeship of +/- 24 hours per week in slots to be agreed upon by the 26 October- 8 December, a schooling/ learning trajectory within a company residential project as a first trial. A posteriori, under evaluation and agreement of both parties, there is a possibility to continue in an internship format from January to July 2025.
The company
Sur Mundo Ensemble holds a contemporary signature in making theatre grounded in the Tango universe. Here, interdisciplinarity and cross-culturalism coverage on Sur Mundo performance creations and dramaturgic-choreographic residencies.
Requirements:
Trainee Profile
BA/MA dance student in the last year of (dance BA or MA) modern/contemporary dance/ theatre dance/choreography
BA/MA dance educator student in the last year of (dance BA or MA). Interest or experience with Tango/ European folklore/ballroom background or social dances.
BA/MA theatre students with an affinity for contemporary theatre or choreography are eligible to apply for these Trainees & Internships.
Interest or experience with Tango/ European folklore/ballroom background or social dances is crucial.
Qualities
• Knowledge of teaching and choreographical methods or of schools
• self-sufficient and pro-active
• Able to improvise in a creative process
• Affinity with crossculturalism in the arts. Interest in Hispanoamerican and Latinoamerican culture
• Social engagement
• Open to work on an interdisciplinary proposal with site-specific, live music and media
• Open to collaborate within an eclectic, inclusive team of all ages, dance backgrounds and cultures

It will take place over the weekend between the Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of October 2024 CET European time.
It is by invitation only.

Costs for participation: The organization covers the costs of the selected candidate’s traineeship: learning trajectory, fees and all that means).
Attention! Candidates’ personal expenses/travel and accommodation costs are not covered. However, dance candidates will be helped and supported but not financially covered. Please, give serious consideration to this last point before applying.
