James Cousins Co is Looking for Male Dancers for Forthcoming Productions
Critically acclaimed UK dance company James Cousins Company are seeking exceptional male dancers for future productions.
Essential Criteria
You must have a strong foundation in contemporary technique
You must be confident in contemporary contact and partner work
You must be a creative thinker who works well in response to tasks and have strong improvisation skills
Please ensure that you familiarize yourself with the company’s work especially Within Her Eyes as we are looking for male dancers who are able to fulfill that role in future touring.
The company
James Cousins Company are a UK based dance company who create compelling dance productions across a range of scales which are enhanced by a rich participation and insight programme, to take audiences on a journey into unique worlds on stage, screen and beyond.
The company was set up in 2014 by choreographer James Cousins and producer Francesca Moseley and is the vehicle through which James explores new ideas with collaborators across all arts forms and tours his critically acclaimed productions throughout the UK and overseas. At the heart of the company is a rich learning and participation programme driving by James passion for nurturing and inspiring the next generation to grow.
Since winning the inaugural New Adventures Choreographer Award, James is quickly making his mark on the dance world with a string of high profile international commissions and a growing company repertoire.
The company’s previous productions; Within Her Eyes, Without Stars and R O S A L I N D have toured the UK, South East Asia, South America and Europe as well as two runs at Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Wilderness and Latitude and have been seen live by over 21,000 people.
Recently the company has created more dance work for screen; Within Her Eyes is now on the GCSE Dance syllabus as a site specific film and last year James created VARLA which premiered on Nowness.
Over the next three years the company has ambitious plans to create three new works on a variety of scales and stages in order to appeal to a mass audience on a global scale.

Commitment
You will need to be available in December 2018 and then on a project contract from late January – March 2019.
We are casting for 3 potential projects so please outline your full availability in your application.
