MA Interdisciplinary Dance Performance

Rethink and develop your performance practice in an ever-expanding field.

This Master’s course focuses on developing an interdisciplinary approach to dance performance, exploring the intersection of dance with theatre, performance art, visual art, film and more.

Through a range of creative laboratories and performance opportunities, students on this course collaborate with professional artists to stage work across a breadth of sites in preparation for diverse careers as freelance artists.

In 2024/25, students will co-create and perform in three major new commissioned works with:

– Florence Peake (dancer, choreographer, visual artist and teacher)
– Complicité Theatre (company working across theatre, opera, film, installation and participation)
– Benji Reid (award-winning photographer)

This unique course enables you to:

– Develop and expand your artistic practice beyond conventional dance performance
– Learn to work effectively in highly collaborative processes and actively contribute to the authorship of artistic work.
– Gain an in-depth understanding of performance processes, looking at different devising methodologies, ensemble creation and interdisciplinary collaboration.
– Join a vibrant network of dance makers, performers and professionals

This course is suitable for emerging and more established dance artists.
