Marc Brew Company is Seeking Disabled & non-Disabled Dancers

Marc Brew Company is seeking versatile disabled and non-disabled Scottish-based dancers, for the creation of a new work for young audiences.

Boys Don’t Dance (working title) by disabled artist Marc Brew, draws on his lived experience as the only boy in the village who wanted to dance, but who was always told boys don’t dance. Exploring themes of identity, otherness, bullying, adversity, resilience and joy, the piece will be developed with feedback from young people.

Boys Don’t Dance is commissioned by Imaginate in partnership with Aberdeen Performing Arts.

Fee: Weekly rate £1000 for 11 weeks, totalling £11,000 on a freelance contract.
Travel, accommodation and per diems covered when on tour.

Requirements:

We’re looking for male-presenting performers with classical, contemporary and improvisation dance experience as well as partnering skills and charismatic personality.

MBC is a dance company committed to equity, inclusion, and amplifying underrepresented voices in dance. We particularly encourage applications from members of the LGBTQ+ community.
