Psychedelic special effects video: One female Dancer needed to self choreograph.
Director Matt Portman and his team are looking for a professional contemporary female dancer with a slim build, aged 18-30 to present us with an interpretation of a thirty second clip from our soundtrack. But before we request an interpretation of this particular dance we’d love to see your showreel or links to videos of yourself in motion. Once we see that you are indeed a professional dancer we will send you a clip of the song with an additional few guidelines.
The idea behind this video project arose after experiences with the shamanic tradition of Ayahuasca. What we believe to be real becomes somewhat questionable as the boundaries of perception are stretched. Through this inspiration we aim to portray a type of primal contemporary dance that is associated with psychedelia and mysticism. It will visually resemble a video called “Choros” by Michael Langan. https://vimeo.com/35770492
However, we’d be looking to make the video itself more intimate in terms of varied camera movements ranging from macro muscle viewpoints to larger wide angle stills encompassing the whole arena.
In terms of the dance itself the guidelines to which I’d like the entire choreography to be about can be summed up as ‘imbalance trying to find balance.’ This idea however is entirely up for interpretation. We’re looking for a bizarre and unique contemporary choreography which is primal and jagged in nature with occasional glimpses of subtle and delicate movements.

The winner will get to design her own choreography and have her dance professional filmed, edited and sent to a variety of different performance and art based film festivals around the world.
Payment and Venue:
– London, UK. (exact venue tbc)
– No payment really to 3rd year students as this will act as mutually beneficial towards their showreel.
However, we realise that professionals have to make a living so we’re willing to pay something around the £200-400 marker depending on time spent practicing.
How to Apply:
Please E-mail a headshot and/or link to video’s for us to view your showreel.
Please send E-mail to [email protected]
Once we’ve received the E-mail, we will send through a few additional guidelines along for your interpretation along with a small clip from our soundtrack.
Application deadline:
