Recirquel is Seeking a Drummer–Dancer
Recirquel, a Budapest based contemporary circus and dance company is seeking a highly skilled drummer–dancer for its internationally touring cirque danse production, Paradisum.
This is a character-driven casting. The character carries a powerful, grounded, and elemental presence within the world of Paradisum. Performers of African or Afro-descendant heritage are particularly encouraged to apply, in alignment with the artistic vision of the production.
We invite applications from exceptional dance and music artists who are not only confident in their own genres and instruments, but are also eager to take on complex dramatic roles. The selected performer will collaborate closely with the Recirquel creative team to develop and portray a richly layered character requiring both refined movement quality and strong theatrical presence.
Due to the international touring schedule and visa logistics, holding a European passport or having the legal right to work within the European Union can be an advantage.

Requirements:
The role demands:
– Strong contemporary or theatrical dance technique
– A highly developed sense of rhythm
– Solid proficiency in drumming (the performer’s central act is a drum-and-dance solo)
– Expressive acting skills and the ability to embody complex emotional states
– Strong stage presence and physical stamina

The first round of casting is currently open and will remain so until March 22, 2026.
How to Apply:
Early submission for the first round is encouraged, allowing participants more time to prepare for the subsequent round.
First round:
Applications are to be sent by e-mail to [email protected] with the following documents and videos:
– Name and nationality (as stated in passport)
– curriculum vitae
– 2 recent photographs: 1 profile and 1 full body
– a recent video: showreel or act video
Second round:
Applicants selected in the first round will receive a short video excerpt featuring choreography from the show. They will be asked to learn the sequences presented in the video, record themselves performing the choreography, and submit the recording via a private YouTube, Vimeo, or Google Drive link.
