Sasha Amaya is Looking for Dancers/Performers for Her New Work Orfeo

Sasha Amaya is looking for dancers/performers for her new work Orfeo in late autumn 2024. Constituting part of her trilogy investigating and reimagining dominant narratives in art history from a non-European perspective, works in the series include Sarabande and Solo for Boy. This time Amaya takes the music and myth as the focus of her investigation, performatively investigating the history and continuing presence of the stories around us.

Requirements:

ROLE
We are seeking:

Performers with contemporary dance training and strong stage presence, comfortable with a variety of performative states and intensities, and ability to grasp choreographic detail;
Performers who are not racialised-as-white and/or with roots outside of Europe;
Comfortability and preferably some experience with using voice, speaking text, and singing;
All body types encouraged to apply;
Performers with German tax status and a base in Berlin (we cannot provide or arrange accommodation)
Please indicate if you have musical experience or a practice, including singing, playing an instrument, etc.

2 weeks in September 2024
Final week + premiere November 2024

The audition weekend is not paid. The project is paid.
