SEMINAR with EURIPIDES LASKARIDIS
“Poetry in ridicule and transformation”
Euripides Laskaridis combines performative tools from his extensive research on ridicule and transformation with his background in physical theatre, contemporary dance, and Greek drama, blending both tragic and comedic elements. By working from the grotesque and everything considered ‘external,’ he guides participants in creating ‘osmotic’ characters through the use of wigs, play, and physical exploration. This workshop aims to uncover the poetry within absurdity, encouraging participants to unleash their unique artistic texture and creative potential.
Euripides Laskaridis is a director and performer. Two dominant themes run through his artistic identity: ridicule and transformation. His work transcends the boundaries of theatre, dance, and visual arts.
He studied acting in Athens at the Karolos Koun Art Theatre and directing (MFA) at New York’s Brooklyn College on an Onassis Foundation Scholarship. Performing since 1995, he has collaborated with directors such as Dimitris Papaioannou and Robert Wilson. In 2000, he started directing his own work, which includes stage and site-specific performances, as well as video artworks and award-winning short films.
