Slanjayvah Danza Seeks Female Identifying Dancers to Join the Company for its 2022/23 UK and international Tour
Scotland’s Leading Scottish and Spanish cross-cultural dance company, Slanjayvah Danza, seeks female identifying dancers to join the core artistic team for its 2022/23 UK and international tour of, ‘6 Feet, 3 Shoes’ and future projects.
The company have a robust and unique interdisciplinary movement practice that requires a range of skills and a high level of versatility. We recognise that the demands of the company’s work require training and development and we are therefore keen to form collaborative, long-term relationships with dancers over a period of time and projects.
During the audition you will be asked to learn elements of the company rep and interdisciplinary practice. We absolutely encourage everyone to simply be your honest self. If as part of your audition, you wish to share/show us existing material (that is appropriate to the skill sets we have stipulated, your body, our work and this call out), we would ask you to advise us so that we can arrange to see this on the audition day.
Requirements:
Project requirements are:
• Exclusive availability for all the 2022 dates in the first instance.
• At least three years of professional dance performance experience.
• Solid technical and artistic skills in one or more of the following styles:
o Contemporary Dance
o Scottish traditional percussive Dance / Highland Dance / Folk Dance
o Flamenco / Spanish Dance / Folk Dance
• High skills in musicality and rhythm, musical knowledge and interpretation, specifically in one or both Scottish and Spanish traditional and percussive rhythms.
• Willing to step into a pre-existing work and team with an ability to quickly learn and perform existing material.
• Confident performer with experience of executing text/song on stage.
• An eagerness to engage with local communities including in rural contexts through performance and education programmes.

When:
• Auditions are by invitation only.
• Auditions will take place in Scotland and England across the weekend of 22nd and 23rd of January.
• Selected dancers will be invited to a call-back/interview on either the 29th or 30th of February 2022.
• We will let successful applicants know the outcome by 1st February 2022.

Please note these do not need to be high quality, or in a studio setting, they can simply be recorded on a smartphone.
