Workshop description:
We start the class by opening our channels of awareness. The use of playfullness and change of rhythm allows us to connect to our natural flow of breath. With the help of exercises in different constellations – in a group, with a partner and alone – we listen to our weight to be able to direct it through space. We get ready to jump, cross, push, avoid, embrace each other. Focusing on the collective mind and body inside the class we enhance the group power giving an energetic push to the individual source of creativity. Physical tasks, created to support movement exploration are carried out, especially in partnering contexts. These tasks enhance the body’s ability to coordinate whilst discovering new qualities and mechanisms. We conclude every class working on choreographic material.
Information about the teachers:
Marion Sparber
Marion received her professional dance training at Varium in Barcelona and Iwanson Contemporary School in Munich.
She has collaborated with companies such as Sonia Rodriguez Company, ADN-Dialect, Stella Zannou, Weedance Company, Eldon Pulak, Philipp Amann and Olga Alvarez. Her solo-work “The Ripe and Ruin” has been performed at several festivals. She co-founded the “KpiQA-Collective” and toured with the duet “Eight” through Costa Rica and Europe.
Since ten years Marion has teaching experience in professional and advanced Contemporary training at e.g. Marameo, Tanzfabrik, Dock 11, Academy Dancer Russia, The University of St. Petersburg, Ballettförderzentrum Nürnberg, Kari Tanzhaus and Deltebre Dansa Festival.
Christos Xyrafakis
Christos graduated from the National School of Dance in Athens and continued his study at the post graduate programme of SEAD Academy in Salzburg as a full scholar of Onassis Foundation.
Currently he is working with “As Palavras Company”, directed by Claudio Bernardo in Brussels and also with the choreographer Olatz de Andres in Bilbao for their upcoming productions, premiering in Autumn 2016. As a choreographer and teacher he has started to develop his own work and is teaching in several studios along Europe. At the 30 days Flying Low and Passing Through workshop “Ex-in” by David Zambrano, Marion and Christos meet and decided to teach together.
