Presentation of the dance diploma program
The dance diploma program enables students to attain a level of proficiency and knowledge geared toward professionalization. It prepares them for admission to institutions such as the National Higher Conservatories, Higher Education Centers, European Higher Education Schools, and Junior Ballets.
This program leads to the Diploma in Choreographic Studies (DEC), which is recognized nationally and awarded upon completion of a specialized cycle lasting 2 to 4 years.
This course of study includes:
practical subjects: main technique, complementary technique, improvisation and composition workshop, study of excerpts from the repertoire,
theoretical subjects: musical training for dancers, choreographic culture, anatomy and functional analysis of the body in dance movement,
Teaching is organized on a weekly basis, in the form of modules.
All subjects (teaching units) must be validated in order to obtain the DEC.
This diploma provides equivalence with the EAT – Technical Aptitude Test, allowing admission to the training program for the State Diploma in dance teaching.
An innovative partnership
Students at the Pau Béarn Pyrénées Regional Conservatory train for the profession of choreographic artist in partnership with the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Junior Ballet Elephant in the Black Box, under the artistic direction of Jean-Philippe Dury.
Immersed in the program three afternoons a week, they meet guest choreographers, take part in choreographic creations, and work on revivals of pieces from the repertoire.
The La Chapelle Choreographic Unit, a professional integration program jointly run by the two organizations, enables them to take part in the Alors on danse! season, as well as in several innovative projects carried out with the teaching team of the Dance Department at the Pau Conservatory.
