Autin Dance Theatre is seeking exceptional performers in dance and physical theatre

Established International Dance Artist and emerging choreographer Johnny Autin is looking for versatile and skilled dance theatre performers (male and female, dancers and actors, and we particularly welcome applications from dancers of Black, South Asian and white British heritage) to join the Birmingham-based professional company Autin Dance Theatre for our upcoming project ‘A Positive Life’.

A Positive Life is an immersive dance theatre experience aimed at teenagers and young adults, around the themes of sex education, self love, health and wellbeing. The work aims to inspire, engage and challenge young people’s mindsets and behaviours around their sexual health as well as investigating the impact of the physical theatre art form and the power of immersive live performances.

Autin DT is seeking exceptional performers in dance and physical theatre, and exceptional actors that are keen movers, ideally based in The Midlands, to work with Creative Director Johnny Autin through 3-5 weeks (funding dependent) of Research and Development. This will include creating and devising in the studio, as well as working in educational and community context’s with young people, where workshops will be delivered, extracts of the work will be performed and consultation will take place with young people from a range of different backgrounds.

This is a paid opportunity, and number of dancers/length of contracts are subject to funding. We are looking for highly creative, technical and strong individual performers interested in embarking on an intense, fun, personal and creative journey with Autin DT.

Dates: (Confirmed with Venues – subject to funding)
Week 1 – 7th & 8th, 11th – 13th July 2016 at DanceXchange, Birmingham
Week 2 – 25th – 30th July 2016 at mac Birmingham
Week 3 – 5th – 10th September 2016 at mac Birmingham
Possibility of further work subject to funding. We envision more work for performers to follow in the following year (from Sept onwards).
