Jones the Dance are Looking for d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing Dancers and/or Physical Performers

We are Jones the Dance (formerly Gwyn Emberton Dance) a dance company based in Wales.

We are looking for d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing dancers and/or physical performers (e.g. physical theatre), who ideally use BSL although not necessary, to join the creation of their new multi form production in 2023. Dancers should have some experience of contemporary styles and improvisation.

The project will take place in north Wales in May/June with the dancer joining to develop and build on some of the work the company developed with Hearing and Deaf dancers between 2019 and 2021. The project will span dance film and live performance and will go into creation in Spring 2023, with a filmmaker from Sweden (TBC), and first performances from the end of 2023.

The audition will be supported with BSL Interpretation.

Contract dates:
May/June 2023 (number of weeks TBC but most like 6 to 8) over the two months.
Possible further dates in Autumn 2023 and Spring 2024.

Fee:

The project will take place across north Wales with all travel and accommodation covered.
