Looking for a Wales Based Dancer to Join a Swedish Residency

We would like to invite one Wales based dancer to join Artistic Director Gwyn Emberton to an international residency in Sweden for three weeks in January 2023. The project will take place at Skånes Dansteater in Malmö and MARC Residency Centre in Knislinge and is the start of a new research process for Gwyn called Autobiography of the Body, a multiform, intergenerational project.

We are looking for a dancer who has a high level of technical and creative ability in their own dance style but has experience of working within a contemporary dance and dance theatre process. The process will involve improvisation, devising and contact work. You will be joining four other international dance artists between the ages of 20 and 70.

We welcome applications from dancers at any age over 18 and encourage dancers from underrepresented backgrounds to apply (however given the type of funding for this project we are not able to offer any access support for this residency as much as we would like to).

Contract dates:
8th to 28th January

Fee:
£600 per week plus per diems (£30 per day)
All travel and accommodation will be covered.

Support:
The project is supported by Wales Arts International’s International Opportunities Fund and Region Skåne, Skånes Dansteater and MARC.

Where:

Ardour Academy, Cardiff, Wales, UK

When:

Saturday 3rd December 2022

How to Apply:

Please send us to [email protected] a brief statement of interest with a short biography and a short video of yourself improvising. We are interested in seeing your qualities, range and personality.

Deadline for applications:

11th November 2022 – we will inform everyone by the 18th if they are invited to the audition.
