Rhode Island Women’s Choreography Project is Looking for Female and Nonbinary-Identifying Emerging Choreographers

The Rhode Island Women’s Choreography Project has a core mission to nurture, elevate, and empower artists whose voices are not traditionally heard. The Project serves any choreographer who feels underrepresented, regardless of their gender identity. Send your application in today to create a new work for our 2022 project using professional dancers and state of the art rehearsal space. You can also work independently in your own space (using your own dancers) and join us for the weekend of the shows.

The rehearsal period at Festival Ballet Providence, Rhode Island, will be May 2-20. Performances will be the weekend of May 21st. You can also apply to be a dancer in the project.

Requirements:

1. You must have the legal right to work in the US.

2. IWCP provides a stipend of $500 and a small travel allowance for those coming to Providence, RI, from >30 miles away. We do not provide housing at this time.

3. You can apply as a local choreographer, rehearsing at our studios in Rhode Island and Massachusetts using dancers provided by RIWCP, or a remote choreographer with your own dancers and studio space. For more details on these two categories, please visit the How It Works page on our website.

4. All participants MUST be available in Rhode Island May 20-22 for tech rehearsals and performances and must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to perform at Festival Ballet Providence.

5. Please pay close attention to the video requirement for this application, as it asks for a sample phrase of the choreography you envision for this piece specifically. Past performance reels will not be accepted.
