Paris Open Call: Dancers & Movement Practitioners for Lab and Performance Elena Bajo’s “Artemisia Noctis, A Grammar of Darkness”

Explore movement, scent, voice and darkness with artist and choreographer Elena Bajo in a free, compensated research laboratory culminating in a performance at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Paris. What happens when darkness, scent and botanical memory become choreographic materials?

Artist and choreographer Elena Bajo invites dancers, movement practitioners and amateurs to join a collaborative eco-movement research laboratory at the Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Paris.

Artemisia Noctis: A Grammar of Darkness (Arianrhod’s Threshold) is developed for Sans Réserve, the museum’s programme dedicated to artistic creation engaged with ecology.

The laboratory draws on Bajo’s Anarchoreographic Method, exploring non-hierarchical composition and attention to nonhuman agencies, plant intelligence and ancestral botanical memory.

Participants will work with repetition, weight, breath, scent, voice, darkness and collective transmission, investigating how ecological and sensory relationships can become precise movement.

The process includes four two-hour laboratory sessions, a dress rehearsal and a public performance on 4 December 2026 at dusk.

Participation is free. A stipend is provided to compensate participants for their work, rehearsals and performance time.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a brief individual introductory conversation via Zoom.

Elena Bajo is the recipient of the Prix Spécial Hors Compétition – Fondation Carmignac.

Requirements:
