Far From The Norm / Botis Seva is Looking for up to 8 Dancers

We’re looking for up to 8 individuals to join us in the studio as we look to expand Far From The Norm and find new dancers to work with the company.

After a period of touring Olivier Award winning BLKDOG internationally, and the creation of our latest work Mama – Artistic Director, Botis Seva and Far From The Norm company artists are returning to the studio this summer for an intense period of exploration to expand the pool of performers for current and future productions.

Auditions don’t work for us, so we want to invite you to spend a longer period of time with us to explore Botis’ ethos and methodology whilst working with our company of dance artists to understand the physical requirements and mental resilience we value in our practice and performance work.

From this group, we’re hoping to find performers and/or apprentices to join us in the final development period of our latest work, Mama. Why this way?

– Due to our touring schedule, there aren’t many opportunities in the year for the company and Botis to connect with individuals.

– Through a similar process, last year we welcomed 3 dancers into the company who now tour with us around the UK and internationally in both Mama and BLKDOG . We also brought 4 other individuals in as Apprentices on the creation of Mama.

Requirements:

We’re looking for

– individuals with a strong foundation in a street dance style(s) and with a willingness to explore beyond the styles’ technique.

– Individuals with resilience and confidence in pushing themselves to new places. Those who are open to trying different things, both individually and with other people in the room.

– Individuals who are driven, bring a positive energy and strong work ethic into the studio.

– Individuals who are highly skilled, proactive and know how to apply themselves and work in a professional setting. Who are self aware and can learn and collaborate with other people in space.

We don’t mind what background you have – just as long as you have a strong sense of self. You could have trained at a conservatoire or university, but we strongly welcome and encourage applications from people with backgrounds in community practice, social dance forms, or people who are self taught.

You must be 18 years + to participate.
