ilDance is Looking for Male Identifying Experienced Dancer for a New Project

Israel Aloni, artistic director of ilDance, is looking for male professional dancers – self-identifying male – including trans masculine, male presenting, non-binary & sic male for their new production. Applicants must be aged 18 and up.
The workshop-audition will take place on 29 and 30 October 2022 (full days) in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Since 2014, Aloni’s work has been addressing gender and sexuality in both direct and indirect ways. After numerous projects in which Aloni addressed these themes through non-binary and female perspectives.

In this project, they address homoeroticism and toxic masculinity (and how they influence the perception of male figures in modern society) to embody post-humanist-feminist agenda through deconstruction and redefinition of the male.

The creation process will include short research residencies in October-November 2023 and an intensive rehearsal period into the premiere and tour in March-May 2024.

The work on the project in 2023-2024 is paid. The fees will be in accordance to the rates recommended by the Swedish performing arts trade union – Scen & film.

Out of respect and appreciation for artists’ time and resources, we will invite a maximum of 20 participants to the workshop-audition.

Requirements:

Self-identifying male – including trans masculine, male presenting, non-binary & sic male. Experienced dancers. Applicants must be aged 18 and up.
Artists who are comfortable with blurring the lines between art and reality, working with exposed and vulnerable honesty and sincerity in a performance context, artists with profound physical work experience (as performing dancers) with interest in physical expressivity and articulation as means of uttering and narration as well as the physical body as both the material and the concept.
The artists need to be comfortable with English being the main working language but there is no need for English to be their mother tongue. They also need to be willing to refer to their life experience during the creative process, within consensual and respective frameworks, as well as be comfortable with improvisation and tasking to contribute to their creative process.
