The Body The Player The Journey stimulates practitioners to dance their authenticity. An invitation to the modulations of inner and outer connections through mechanisms of perception, approximating each individual to their personal and collective landscapes.
The work focuses on the body’s mobility from the perspective of biotensegrity, aiming to expand awareness of the body as an integrated living network. Practitioners are invited to access information from their bodily experiences unveiling their available perceptible resources.
Through games & improvisation practices, people will be exposed to and experience the following principles:
(1) sensitive & systemic mapping of the body, (2) gravity & body axis, (3)distribution of tension & modulations of tone, (4) the folds of the body, (5) the fabulous universe of spirals, (6) multidimensionality,(7) asymmetry, (8) body pulsations.
In current times it feels fundamental to dance what pulses in & in between us, exploring modes of interaction, negotiation, and trust. The Body The Player The Journey encourages individual & collective tuning in connection with the new encounters in the fascinating surroundings of Paleochori space, welcoming vitality to dance life in real-time.

BIO
Rafaela Sahyoun (BR) is a dance artist, movement practitioner, educator & choreographer based between Brazil & Portugal. Teaching plays an essential role in her practice. Since 2014, she has been teaching workshop formats alongside immersive dance courses for different dance companies, public and private institutions, Bachelor degrees, and Post- Graduate programs, as well as teaching for national and international auditions. Since 2019 Rafaela has been a guest teacher and collaborator at Pera School of Performing Arts – GAU, teaching the Bachelor’s Degree in Dance and leading the auditions. Besides teaching, she has made three dance productions for university students: Something to Phase Us: Who goes there (2022), Wheel of Radical Affection (2021), and VAWM (20/21). Since 2020 she teaches at the Post-Graduate Program Corpo: Dança, Teatro e Performance at Célia Helena Centro de Artes e Educação in São Paulo. As an emerging choreographer, her latest creation in Brazil, Fôlego (2022), is nominated for the APCA Dance Award of 2022 within the category: Premiere of the year 2022. This creation was made for Balé da Cidade de São Paulo and commissioned by Centro Cultural São Paulo [CCSP]. As a freelance dancer and performer, she is featured in productions by: Sara Shelton Mann (USA), Judith Sánches Ruíz (CU/DE), Renan Martins (DE/BR), Alessandro Sciarroni (IT), Morena Nascimento(BR), Clarice Lima (BR), Marco Torrice (IT/BE), Clair Lefevrè (FR/AT), Nigel Charnoch (GB), Willi Dorner (AT), Marcus Moreno (BR), Cristian Duarte (BR), Talita Florêncio (BR) and other people she admires. From 2015 to 2018, she was a company member of Jorge Garcia Dance Company in São Paulo. Rafaela graduated from SEAD – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (Austria) in 2013 and graduated with the program Dance Studies at Trinity Laban (London) in 2010.
WHAT IS UNPLUGGED DANCE
A dance educational program in Lefkada Greece including original dance workshops with inspiring international educators and artists of contemporary dance and somatic practices. A living and practicing experience including dance workshops, accommodation and meals.
All Unplugged Dance workshops are open to everyone who wants to meet, share, dance and self-explore through movement and creative process. There is no need for previous experience in dance classes, although if there is one, it is welcome.
WHAT IS UNPLUGGED REVISITED
“The Body The Player The Journey” is part of Unplugged Revisited 2023, an imprint left by our meeting with the facilitators of the first Unplugged Dance program. With the intention of creating a space of educational, artistic research and exchange, that will give the opportunity for our individual trajectories to meet and our relationships to deepen, we created this branch where educators/artists from the previous Unplugged Dance programs, have a whole week in order to deepen or revisit their workshop.
